
This is Filer. At first, I had absolutely no clue what this was, because it looked like a stripped down version of Worksheet! I then realized that it was creating a form, which clued me into it’s purpose. Could they make it less obvious?

Telecom appears to be some kind of faxing program. Totally useless these days, and only useful in those days if you could actually afford a hardware modem which would have been an expensive add-on.

Calendar looks very useful, and at least it works, somewhat.

Apparently email existed way back in those days, because that’s what Mail is for. I wonder how many people actually used it?
Conclusion: Deskmate 2, while still Deskmate and having all the same apps as later versions, is definitely not truely a GUI by the standards of a few years later. It is more like a colorful version of DOS Shell with proprietary applications bundled with it. Later versions of Deskmate were much better. |
