
SRC uses Midori to do the web browsing.

ISO Master allows you to create ISO files and/or remaster SRC.
Xfburn allows you to burn crud to a CD/DVD.

This thing is a graphical GTK+ frontend for the lshw command.
lshw lists the hardware in the system, and also has subcommands for weeding out stuff from the list.

Testdisk is a command-line based utility that can be used to recover data from partitions that have been damaged due to software problems and a few hardware problems.
If your drive doesn’t read anything, good luck getting your data back as this is totally useless for that purpose.

Conclusion: While it is simple, SystemRescueCD does not need to be feature-packed to be useful for it's purpose. I, as of the writing of this conclusion (March 2013), am using it full-time to repair machines which have damaged partition tables and as a basic recovery tool. Not big on USB flash drives however. |
