Xubuntu Linux is yet another Ubuntu derivative, this time based on the XFCE desktop.
XFCE is a lightweight desktop environment designed to be appealing and efficient with resources. It does a good job at that, and Xubuntu is configured to look like Ubuntu.

It was noticeable that my keyboard was not working correctly, so clearly there is some bug that needs to be worked out.

This is the default desktop when booting up from the live CD. This will, once again, be done entirely from the live CD.
The first thing a user would notice is how similar it is to Ubuntu. The only noticeable difference is the color scheme (and even then it is similar to Ubuntu 10.04), and the lack of the system menu.

Xubuntu includes quite a few backgrounds by default. It is interesting to note that Xubuntu's mascot is a mouse, presumably to indicate lightweight and speedy.

This is the about window. Xubuntu 10.04 uses the XFCE4 desktop.

Xubuntu uses the Thunar file manager, which is basically a lightweight version of Nautilus, and acts mostly the same way.

Interestingly enough, Thunar does not include a built-in search function, and as such Xubuntu bundles Catfish to do that job.

Xubuntu, like most major distros, bundles Firefox. Interesting to note that it still uses the same modification pack as standard Ubuntu, and thus all the graphics are meant for Ubuntu, and not Xubuntu.
