Zenwalk Linux is a Slackware-based distro that originally was called “Minislack”. These days it is far apart from Slackware however.
Unlike Slackware Zenwalk uses XFCE as the desktop environment, however GNOME and KDE editions are available.

This is the default desktop.

As you can see, there are no menus in sight. Just a list of icons, a panel containing a list of open programs, a workplace switcher, and the time (which unfortunately defaults to 24-hour time), and the dock at the bottom of the screen.
This gives Zenwalk a clean appearance similar to Fluxbox- and Openbox-based TinyFlux and Crunchbang.

Once you figure out that the typical menu is displayed when you right-click the desktop, you notice that there is a full lineup of applications installed by default.

Like all XFCE-based distros, Zenwalk uses Thunar to do the file managing.

Zenwalk also includes an older version of Firefox to do the web browsing.

I found it surprising and curious that Zenwalk includes the GNOME Hex Editor, which isn’t even included in most if any GNOME-based distros!
