OS/2 features it's own unique command interpreter that seems to be roughly comparable to DOS command-wise, but I have not tested it thoroughly

Here is the included demo program, the only thing bundled with OS/2 1.0.

This screenshot shows off some of the color and graphic support in OS/2 1.0. Really, nothing more than a glorified DOS program.

Apparently there was something that went wrong during the installation, because it would always pop up this error after being booted for a while. This is what error messages look like in OS/2 1.0.
Conclusion: OS/2 1.0 seems like nothing more than a glorified text-based DOS shell. While not a graphical operating system, it is interesting to see where OS/2 got its roots from. Too bad about the lack of included programs, however. |
