And here we have the new "Explorer". Basically this is just Internet Explorer 4 that is browsing your hard drive. Microsoft calls this change "beneficial". I call it an excuse to continue bundling IE with Windows, and also to crush their competition. There is absolutely nothing in this new Explorer that couldn't be done without the use of a web browser.

Windows 3.0 introduced the ability to have an image as the desktop background. Windows 98 introduces the ability to have a live web page as your background.
Why does something this stupid have to exist? There is no reason for someone to have a web page as their background!

All this "innovation", and Notepad still cannot open large files. Now that would be innovation. Oh wait, in Mac OS there is a program called SimpleText, and it can open large files, so I guess that wouldn't be innovation...not to mention Mac OS has been able to do that (not necessarily with SimpleText) for years.

So I tried to download Firefox...and this popped up. I guess I can't go online without signing up for this bullcrap? Clicking cancel exits the whole thing.

Oh and yet I can open up web pages that are linked/saved on the computer? Yeah because that makes total sense...

The best part of Windows 98.
