Aliases, as Calmira calls them, can be placed in the quick links bar on the taskbar.
Interestingly enough this wasn't a feature in Windows until Windows 98. This implementation does not need the browser Windows needs.
If you really want to jack up Windows 3.1 like Windows 98 is, 16-bit IE is available for download. In this day and age it is useless and a malware garbage island, however.
Netscape 4, an equally useless and dumpy but not quite as evil browser, is also available.

Calmira II includes a handy little search program that works just like the Windows 95 version.

And it also has an extensive help library.
Yuck, you cannot go anywhere without some advertisement for IE, can you?

Exiting Calmira.

I found it interesting that it includes it's own shutdown splash screen.
Conclusion: Calmira II is one of the better desktop shells. It brings an environment that was most like Windows to an earlier version that had an inferior desktop shell, and does it well. It would have been nice to see some spell-checking done, but it works. |
