Here is the CommandShell terminal emulator, which again provides a completely POSIX compatible UNIX terminal experience roughly between System V and BSD. Notice I am logged in twice; once on this CommandShell window, and once on a "pseudo-terminal" corresponding to the graphical display. Again, this is pretty typical for UNIX/Linux operating systems.
CommandShell always starts with the Finder, although you can close it.

A look at a default home folder. The dots next to some of the files indicate hidden files, again a typical UNIX feature.

This is the A/UX "bootstrap" drive, which hosts a copy of System 7 and a few UNIX utilities that are necessary for booting the system.

The finder is really no different from System 7, however notice the "no write" icon in the upper left to indicate directories the current user does not have write access to; A/UX obviously supports and conforms to the standard UNIX permission model. |
