CPD Applications
The applications desktop is set up by default in such a way that clicking on the icon opens up a search of the hard drive for files that are associated with that program and lists them. These files may have long filenames, however this gets complicated as the file it points to has to have an 8.3-style filename.
As shown, each desktop can also have it’s own background.

CPD Extra
The last desktop is basically just an extra one created so you can get started with creating your own desktop. You can add or delete desktops as you see fit.
Also shown here are a number of folder templates. Each folder can be made such that it has a solid background color (no graphics), and there are a number of templates that use this feature.

CPD Customize Menu
As I already mentioned, it is possible to completely customize the toolbars. A menu item can be added or removed as you see fit. There is also the option of a default “short menu”, or a “long menu” with a few other options.

CPD Quick Launch
The long menu contains a “Quick launch” option that lists whatever is placed in the Quick Launch folder on the Main desktop. By default only a few basic items are there.

CPD Dialogs
And lastly I wanted to show you that the dialogs have been modified to be more user friendly.

Conclusion:
Central Point Desktop comes bundled with a bunch of crud, however it is a significant improvement over the Program Mangler shell that comes with Windows. Just wish it wasn't so cluttered-looking.
