Tandy Deskmate is really nothing more than an add-on DOS program that Tandy bundled with the TRS-80 and later the Tandy 1000 series of PC clones. Early versions were text-based only, while later versions introduced graphics, and were roughly on par with things like GEM and Windows of the time.
This particular version is the last known release of Deskmate, and introduces relatively little on top of older releases of Deskmate 3. I am including it mainly to show a few of these differences.

It is important to note that the "3.69" version number appears to refer only to the desktop program itself, and that while I refer to it as Deskmate 3.69 in this review it is in fact Deskmate 3.05.
The desktop background color has changed, although the rest of the color pallette hasn't. There is a "view" on the desktop for the tutorial that appears differently from the other "view"s, as well as a few "quick launch" buttons that were not present or supported in older releases.

Here are the display options for views.

Deskmate 3.69 still includes the Tree view for viewing files and folders directly.

I am not sure if this was present in the previous versions, but there is also an option under the view menu for displaying files in a list view as opposed to the tree. |
