Conclusion:
Lubuntu is not designed well enough to be a suitable replacement for Windows. Program stability is not there, the interface is not quite there, and it just doesn't work well enough and has enough issues (such as running the processor very close to it's thermal limits apparently) to make it nearly unusable.
