Here is Microsoft Edge, which is now basically nothing more than a Chrome shell. I guess that makes sense since basically everyone only writes web pages that work in Chrome now.
Somehow it reminds me of the "Best viewed in IE 4" days...and not for the better, either. Isn't "choice" supposed to be important these days?

Speaking of choice...wait, isn't this exactly the kind of thing that got Microsoft sued by the DOJ around the turn of the millenium?
Yes, I get that there's far more competition these days than there used to be, and you CAN still choose to change your browser anyway...for now at least. What's stopping them from removing that option later? And even if they don't, the psychological impact of this message may just kill off competition anyway because these days everyone just does what they are told to do...

Here is another new thing, I think Chrome does this too, and maybe even Firefox. I've never clicked on it, but I bet it's something like Snake or Pong...or something mindless and shit like Candy Crush...I don't get the infatuation with that stupid game.

With Windows 11 PowerShell now has a more prominent role and seems to be the default command interpreter. I love how there is an advertisement to get PowerShell inside of a PowerShell window. How cute.

Fortunately the good-old command prompt is still available, not that it matters given there is exactly nothing left from the classic Windows desktop now anyway.

The "Security" application now has a bunch of dumb advertising of other Microsoft services in it, as if any of it contributes in anything but a negative way to security. |
