Windows 8 now has two control panels: the ordinary desktop one, and this Metrofied full-screen one.

And speaking of the desktop, here it is in all it's glory.
Think you're free from Metro? Well not so fast...
It is plainly obvious that THOSE BASTARDS GOT RID OF THE START MENU!!! Oh, and gadgets too, but why would you care about those when your start menu is now gone?
So where does that leave us? There is now no plainly visible way to access applications on the desktop! Well, you have a few options:
- You can download a start menu program like Start8 or StartW8 and install those.
- You can create a link to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and browse the start menu programs folder.
- You can create a link to C:\Program Files, or browse it manually and run programs like that.
- You can pin applications to the taskbar, or create desktop shortcuts.
- You can memorize another keyboard shortcut (Win+R) and run a program manually.
Wow, it's just like Windows 3.1! It's been 20 freaking years and we've come how far?

Why the hell would I need one of these if I have a damn physical keyboard RIGHT in front if me?!?

This new "command bar" Microsoft integrated with the Explorer is a joke. It's just a ribbon that emulates drop-down menus! (See Office Ribbon for more info) |
